Greg Hawkes of The Cars brings the music of The Cars to the stage, backed by acclaimed Boston-based band Eddie Japan for a full-band celebration of one of rock’s most distinctive and enduring catalogs.
As the keyboardist for the legendary Boston band and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Cars, Greg Hawkes helped forge one of the defining sounds of rock’s New Wave era. Pioneering and pushing the limits of technology and sequencing in the late ’70s and throughout the ’80s, Greg helped cement the synthesizer’s place in rock and pop music, influencing countless artists who followed. Along with achieving Rock & Roll Hall of Fame status and massive commercial success with The Cars, Greg has been a sought-after session and touring musician, working with artists including Paul McCartney, Todd Rundgren and The Turtles.

In 2016, Greg collaborated with Boston-based band Eddie Japan on their 2017 album Golden Age. That collaboration eventually led Greg and the band to join forces onstage, performing a set list personally curated by Greg from The Cars’ remarkable catalog. Since 2019, Greg and Eddie Japan have been bringing this music to audiences throughout the Northeast with an energetic live show featuring The Cars’ biggest hits, fan favorites and deeper cuts, along with special selections highlighting Greg’s extraordinary musical career.
